In order to be successful, you have to take 100% responsibility for everything you experience in your life – this includes everything that happens to you in your personal life and in your business life. The myth that we are entitled to a great life is misleading; rather, we are responsible for the quality of the life we live.

Being conditioned to blame someone other than ourselves for the parts of our life that we don’t like is like a cancer – a disease needs to be eradicated in order to realize success. We blame everything around us, and yet the real problem is within ourselves.

Jim Rohn, America’s foremost business philosopher said: “You must take responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons or the wind, but you can change yourself”. Yesterday has passed, all we have is right now; we must take the necessary steps to make things work the way we want. The ball is always in our hands.

You should stop looking outside yourself for the answers as to why you haven’t made the life that you want and getting the results that you're looking for, since it is you who creates the quality of life that you lead and the outcomes that you produce. Therefore, to achieve major success in life, you must accept 100% responsibility for your life, and nothing else beyond that.

Hence, giving up on blaming others, stopping complaining about your lot, and taking total responsibility for your life are prerequisites for creating a life of success. George Washington Carver, the Chemist who discovered over 325 uses for the peanut said: “99% of all failures come from people who have a habit of making excuses”. Thus it is crucial that you give up on making excuses and blaming others and external factors for your situation in life. The past is past, do not cry over spilled milk; rather, you must act, because you are 100% responsible for all that does or does not happen to you.

Every outcome you experience in life is the result of how you have responded to an earlier event in your life.

Event + Response = Outcome

So if you don’t like your outcomes, change your responses. Everything you go through in life is the result of how you have responded to a previous event and occurrence.

In summary: Take full responsibility for your life and take the right actions and steps that can give you the life that you want. You either create or allow everything that happens to you – your life is what you make it out to be.

What's Next?

A good next step to take would be to get inspirational and motivational books such as “Over the top” by Zig Ziglar and “Chicken soup for the soul” by Jack Canfield, which can help you learn more about principles for success, along with how to effectively take full responsibility for your life.
